COVID-19 message

The Adventure Park is now closed to all day visitors this includes the quad bike trails, segway treks, high ropes course, footgolf course and the play area.

For day visitors looking to head to North Yorkshire, we would recommend Thorp Perrow Arboretum only a couple of miles down the road from Camp Hill. The Arboretum offers stunning grounds, play area, birds of prey centre and a team room - open daily 10am till 5pm.

Camp Hill & Camp Katur Glamping Guests staying on site can enjoy walking, running and biking trails around the grounds, still have the Woodland Kingdom park available and our Footgolf course is harder than ever. Above this, we have movie nights, created a walled kitchen garden and our Old Hay Barn Pub serving the best Yorkshire ale around.

*Please note facilities on site are for glamping guests only due to the current circumstances and monitoring people on/off onsite.

Renovation of the Walled Kitchen Garden

Renovation of the Walled Kitchen Garden

Tuesday 24th March 2020

What better time to renovate our Walled Kitchen Garden than now. Over the coming weeks we will be sharing the progress of our new renovation project with you. The space, which used to be a horse arena will be transformed into our very own Walled Kitchen Garden used for corporate, school and community groups. The garden will become a haven of fresh produce with vegetables, herbs and fruits promoting the ‘field to fork’ benefits.

Across the weekend the Ropner family and residents on the Estate came together to start phase one – creating the canvas. The damson hedges have been pulled away, the fences taken down and the space has been cleared.

Now for phase two…

Walled Kitchen Garden

Thursday 26th March 2020

Phase two of the renovation of Camp Hill’s Walled Kitchen Garden is in full swing! In the beautiful spring sunshine, the Poly Tunnel is now up, thanks to the great work of the Camp Hill team.

The Poly Tunnels are a brilliant form of growing your own fruit and vegetables all year round. This will be a place where clients and the community alike can grow, nurture and pick their own fresh produce as well as learning new skills on the way.

Many hands make light work

As well as many Yorkshire brews along the way! Robert, Jo and Poppy have removed the tough turf and cleared the space in the Poly Tunnel, placing down the old cast iron walkways used in the original Camp Hill greenhouses. This adds a timeless, recycled piece of history to our current project for many future clients to enjoy.

Next stop, raised beds!

Friday 3rd April 2020

The raised beds are in!

Another week of hard work, the team have managed to put 20 raised beds into the Walled Kitchen Garden. The beds will be used for our very own fresh produce with plenty of veggies as well as seasonal flowers. The Camp Hill renovation project is coming along nicely and we can't wait to share it with you, our clients and community.

Take a look at our progress, the Walled Kitchen Garden is really taking shape! If you look closely you can even spot Jo's Hebridean Sheep grazing in the Back Park.

The warm weather means plenty of watering to do, as our vegetables start to sprout. We currently have lettuce, carrots, beans and radishes to name a few growing in our poly tunnel.

A Camp Hill Top Tip: Always water your plants in the cool evenings or early mornings to keep the water from evaporating at the plant root during the heat of the day.

Root vegetables galore!

Today, we managed to fill and plant many of our raised beds with root vegetables of all kinds. Root vegetables are known to have many health benefits as they grow underground, they absorb more nutrients from the soil such as antioxidants, vitamin A, B,C and iron.

We hope to inspire future gardeners with our Walled Kitchen Garden project. The poly tunnel is start to sprout with growth, radishes, spring onions and French beans coming soon.
